I had articles come out in the print version of IDA’s Documentary Magazine. I learned about amazing organizations that help documentary filmmakers create social impact through social engagement and interviewed fantastic filmmakers like Morgan Spurlock and Ondi Timoner.

I covered POV’s first Hackathon, The New York Film Festival’s launch of their Convergence Program and Tribeca’s premiere Storyscapes.

I’ve missed quite a few other articles I wrote this year, so much thanks to everyone that took the time to seek them out and read them on their own. I appreciate you all very much!!! I’ll make an effort to try and keep everyone informed with the going ons of “The Lone Olive” here on the blog.

I wrote three articles on the event including my first piece on The Washington Post. Check them out. They all have a different slant and Emon’s pictures are wonderful. He’s going to post a photo essay and I will link to that when it goes up. I shared one of his photographs below:

I am very honored to be nominated for the Board of New York Women and Film and Television. I had a great time at the “Meet and Greet” event and even gave a speech. Thank you everyone for voting and I’ll let you know the results as soon as I do!

This was my “headshot” and “voting info” – what do you think?

AMANDA LIN COSTA

BIOGRAPHY

A graduate of Emerson College’s film program, Amanda Lin Costa has worked for twenty years in the film, television and performing arts community. Starting as a production coordinator, Amanda moved on to working in the “vanities” on Broadway as well as in film and commercials working with companies such as Disney, MTV, Dreamworks and artists such as Whitney Houston, Tony Bennett, Nicole Kidman, Liam Neeson and many others. When her daughter left for college, she had her own fresh start. She began directing and producing her first documentary and quickly crossed over into scripted content. Her new life as a writer and producer finds her helming an adaptation and biopic, and a feature length documentary. Docu-style branded content is her specialty.

PERSON STATEMENT

It’s an honor to be nominated for the NYWIFT board. I’ve served on the Mentor/Intern Committee because of my deep belief that opportunities arise in this industry because of “who you know.” Networking is key; it’s one of the reason I became a NYWIFT member. I hope to bring my knowledge of brand content integration and cross-platform distribution to the NYWIFT board. I’m excited about fundamental game-changing frontiers and my journalistic investigations into new technology and industry shifts furthers my optimism for the future of the industry. Connections I have made through social media and online platforms have created a world of opportunities for me. I look forward to being able to build connections for NYWIFT and its members.
